I really came to love this collection. Ms. Rain's writing style is descriptive and she can really bring life to the characters. The scenery was well described and I actually felt like I was there. I really do love a good paranormal romance and they can get a little too spicy at times, but Ms. Rain wrote them in a respectful but sexy way. I did love the female leads in the story but I have to say that Hailey in The Island of Bears was a little more than annoying. LOLThere were a few things I didn't like about the first book but it seemed that as the stories continued, Ms. Rain's story just got better and better. She had me in tears while I was reading The Island of Dragons. I ran the full gantlet of emotions and had a blast doing it. By the end, I wanted to find a worm hole and go to Black Lake Island and find myself a tall handsome shifter man.

I would gladly reccomend " The Island" I found it different from any other series that I have ever read. It was easy to read and kept my attention expecially havin 3 kinds of shape shifters. The setting was also unusual. A must read
I hate giving bad reviews, but I also hate when a book is so hard to read that I'm literally forcing myself to read it. The idea of the story had promise, however the main character read like a ditzy teenager, not a genius doctor. The characters lacked depth, and everything was rushed. If I had turned this story in as an assignment in high school, my teacher would have marked red ink all over every page. Very disappointed.
I really liked the first and third story in "The Island" trilogy. The first book, about the wolves was a nice little romance. As was the third story, about the dragons. The second story about the bears...I found the female lead to be such a twit, I skipped over a lot of the story just to get to the ending. I would recommend reading this boxed set. Overall, I liked the concept of the island and it's inhabitants very much.
This is a very engaging series. I thoroughly enjoyed each story. The storytelling is so vivid that I could actually visualize the Island. The circumstances of how the ISLAND came to be makes one wonder if there are indeed portals to such magical places. I can honestly say that while reading the series, I found myself wishing there was a portal close to me and once I got through, there was no way I'd want to come back.
This is my first time reading this author and I look forward to future gifts of her storytelling.
I don't usually write reviews, but ... these are dreadful! If you're into the shifter genre, do not waste your time reading them. Exploitive of the genre, write-by numbers, and sooo many deus ex machina plot events - I finished reading the last volume mostly to see what'd be dumped in next, and the last one is an absolute doozy, sums up the trash of the whole set. ... and far to much time "thinking" than "doing" Would expect a 14 year old to do a better effort. (And on a more general note, don't ya just hate the subset of shifters who "magic" their clothes with their human form ... )
This series is totally worth a very high 5...being able to read a series in consequently is so much enjoyable.
I received this book with a promotion price of 99¢ through and it has surpassed to me , as keeping me "glued" to reading to the end.
Amira Rain is a new author to me and now I'm hooked on her books.
I have fallen in love with Warren, Eric and Holden and you will too. Grey forms, inky black water, magic, and mysterious happenings this series will have you asking why, what and how this island is.

Amira has done it again. Set over several years, the three stories tell the story of Black Lake Island, the people who live there, the women who end up living with and loving the leaders, and the consequences of scientific experimentation.
Luckily, this us a boxed set, with the first story setting the scene for the second which, in turn, sets the stage for the third and very climactic last. I advise, do not read them out of sequence as the details from the previous stories are needed to understand what I'd being read.
The twists and turns that Amira weaves for the reader can keep one guessing, but once the "big reveal" is made in the third story, she let's the reader see that all the important details were there the entire time.
I suggest the reader NOT read anything else while reading this trilogy and, if possible, read straight through with time taken off only for sleeping. Yes, this is a weekend gluttonfest of characters, plot, mystery, and love to enjoy!
